Appointments available for American Red Cross event

QUEENSBURY, New York (Nov. 29, 2021) — º£½ÇÉçÇø is proud to host a Student Senate-sponsored American Red Cross Blood Drive at the college’s Bay Road campus. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, the public is invited to participate in the Blood Drive in the lobby of the Student Center.  

“º£½ÇÉçÇø students know the importance of community and of giving back,â€� said Taylor Testa, director of Student Engagement and Diversity. “Regular blood drives on campus are an incredible display of their engaging the community and contributing to the greater good.â€� 

According to the American Red Cross:  

  • 4.5 million lives are saved by blood transfusions every year; 
  • Someone in the United States needs blood or platelets every 2 seconds; 
  • A single blood donation can save up to three lives;  
  • 60 percent of blood donations come from people 40 years or older; 
  • 3 percent of age-eligible people donate blood each year
